Fresh Apple Cider

Fresh apple cider is a wonderful fall and winter tradition. Ever wondered what the difference between apple cider and apple juice is? They are both juices made from apples, but the process is very different. Apple cider is raw apple juice that hasn't been filtered to remove the pulp, so full of flavor and must be kept refrigerated.
Apple juice, on the other hand, is filtered to remove the solids and is generally pasteurized.
Our Apple Cider is from Fowler Farms blend of seven varieties of apples, using no concentrate. Our classic cider is known for its smooth, no bite flavor.
Hot Apple Cider
6 cups fresh apple cider
1/4 real maple syrup
2 cinnamon sticks
4 whole cloves
6 whole allspice berries
1 orange peel cut into strips
1 lemon peel cut into strips
Combine the apple cider and maple syrup in a sauce plan. Bundle the spices and citrus peels in a small cheese close and tie with kitchen string, and throw into the saucepan. Heat over med heat for 5-10 minutes until cider is very hot but not boiling. Serve the cider with apple or orange slice for garnish. You can add your favorite "adult beverage" too!
